  South Park (beta 6)
***********************
Programmed by Marc Puts

Hi!

First of all, thanks for being one of these rare people
who actually read this text file! In this file I'll
explain how the game works. You can also read a summary
of this information in the game by choosing ABOUT in the
main menu and then choosing HOW TO PLAY.

-----------------
Game instructions
-----------------
In this game, you control the four kids of South Park.
They have to defeat many enemy's in order to save the
little mountain town. In the beginning of the game, it
won't be too hard to defeat then, but when you fight
your way through, it will become more difficult.

I'll help you to defeat the first enemy: the turkeys!

In the main menu, choose NEW GAME to start a new game.
(duh!) You'll have to choose on which difficulty level
you want to play. If you play at easy, you will do more
damage than on normal, and your opponent will do less.
At hard, it will be the opposite. After you choose, the
game will have to do a few calculations, and then you'll
be taken to the barracks, which are the last state before
a fight.

------------
The barracks
------------
From here, you can start the fight by choosing FIGHT MATCH,
but lets take a look at our opponent first. Choose ABOUT
OPPONENT. Now you see that our first opponents are the
turkeys, and below the name you'll see some mysterious bars.

The first bar indicates the strength of your opponent. It's
the amount of damage your opponent will do. The second one
indicated his (or in this case, their) ability to defence.
How more defence he has, how harder it will be for you to
do much damage. The third bar indicates the intelligence
of your opponent. If he has much intelligence, he will be
smart enough to defend himself against a special attack from
you. (Read further on to get more info about special attacks).
Finally, the last bar indicates the courage. This is the opposite
of the intelligence; how more courage he has, the more powerfull
his special attacks will be.

When you press enter, you'll return to the barracks. Now choose
VIEW STATS to take a look at the strenght of the four kids
which you control. After viewing the strength of the fourth kid,
you'll get a screen which shows your current experience, and when
you get the next bonus. During a fight, you'll gain some experience.
When you got enough to reach the next level, you'll get a chance to
train the kids, so they become more powerfull. And believe me, they'll
need it!

Finally, you'll get a look at the amount of fights you have won
and lost. I think this part speaks for itself.

Now you're back in the barracks again. Don't you think it's time
to defeat the turkeys? Choose FIGHT MATCH to start the fight.

--------
Fighting
--------
During a fight, you'll see a lot of bars on the screen. The first one
displays the total strength of your opponent, the four bars below show
the strength of the kids Cartman, Kenny, Kyle and Stan respectively.

Now, how to fight? Press the arrow up key. Notice the 'A' appearing
next to Cartman's energy bar? It indicated that you just gave Cartman
the order to attack. Press the up key three more times to give the
other kids the same order. Now you'll see the screen flashing a bit,
showing four pictures of the kids, and the amount of damage they did
to the opponent. Afterwards you'll be returned to the 'bars' screen.
Notice the energy of the opponent has shrunk a bit? Now the opponent
will choose one of the kids to attack, and he will attack. Afterwards
you'll be returned to the 'bars' screen again, and the energy of the
kid that has been attacked will be a bit less.

Your turn again. Now press the down key three times. Notice the three
'D's appear? It means that these three kids won't attack, but they will
defend. When one of these kids will be atacked, the amount of damage
done to him won't be very much. This might come in handy if one of
the kids has too little energy to risk his life. Now press the UP key
once to have Stan attacking the opponent. This time only Stan will
attack, and the opponent will do his move.

Your turn again. Now I'll show you how the special attack works. You'll
give the order to do a special attack by pressing the 2ND key. Now you
will see a 'S' appear. A special attack can do much more damage to a
opponent than a normal attack, but there is a chance that it failes, and
when it does, the kid will hurt himself. Go ahead and give it a try.

The turkeys aren't very hard to defeat, so after a while their energy
will be gone. You may congratulate youself, you won the fight!

Now you see the amount of experience you gained, and then you'll return
to the barracks. Same old story again, but with a different opponent.

------------------
Some extra options
------------------
By the way, did I mention you can also save your game-in-progress?
When you are in the barracks, choose OPTIONS and then SAVE GAME.
When you want to play on at a later time, choose LOAD GAME from
the main menu. (NOTE: the LOAD GAME option won't be available if
there is no game to load, for example when you never saved a game
or when you deleted the list SPSAV.)

-----------
Multiplayer
-----------
Although you will see the multiplayer option in the main menu,
I haven't finished it (yet), so it won't work. You can connect
to an other calc, but thats it. It of no use for now, so just
forget about that option, okay?

----------
Final note
----------
I don't think I'll ever finish this game completely, so it won't
get out of beta releases. If anyone wants to finish multiplayer
support, please do so. Of cource, you should add your name to the
game, but please leave mine in it. And please *let me know* and see
what you changed before uploading or giving it away to anyone!
