MATTCHESS v1.0

This one is pretty self-explanatory. It is NOT intelligent chess, but two people can play each other either on one Ti-83 or a pair of linked Ti-83s. It will not let a player make illegal moves. It supports castling, it will notify a player when they are in "check", and will let any pawn that makes it to the opposite side of the board turn into any piece you want. It will not, however, stop a player from moving into check or force a player to move out of check. One would assume that a king that stays in check for a whole turn will be killed by the piece that threatens it. (The opposing king has to be killed in order for a win.) To move a piece, move the cursor over it, hit enter, then move the cursor to where you want it to go and hit enter again. You can set a piece back down where you got it and get to move another piece instead.

To start a one-calculator game:
Select "1 Calculator" after hitting enter on the opening screen. Move when prompted.

To start a two-player game:
On both calculators, select "2 Calculators", hit enter on the next screen, then select a player. 1 is white, 2 is black. One calculator must be player 1, and the other must be player 2. Once the players are selected, wait for both calculators to finish drawing the board. Move when prompted. Player two's pieces are at the top of both screens; player 1's are always on the bottom.

Toubleshooting:
The game should be bug-free. When playing with two calculators, however, the calculators may get out of sync and cease playing correctly. I have never tried linking with Ti-83 plusses, and cannot offer any advice about them. If you continually lose sync, try switching which calc is player one and which is player two. Pick up and set down pieces slowly and deliberately. Lastly, you can try to match up the battery power of each calc.
