Bomber 3

Thank you for downloading this HeaneySoft product.
Contained in this zip folder you should have found a single program:

Bomber 3 - This is a game for up to 4 players, human or computer (AI), as long as there is at
least one human. Before the game starts, each player hides an artifact anywhere in the arena
and chooses where they want their player to start the game. Each player will be allowed to
customize their game by adjusting different player options. The object of the game is to be
the last one standing.

There are two ways to eliminate another player:
1. Find an opponent's artifact and return safely to a base.
2. Kill an opponent by using bombs to bring his toughness to zero.

The last player standing will be the winner.

Player options are as follows:
Toughness: How many times you can get bombed before you are eliminated. Default: 10, Max: 15
Avoid Bombs Percentage: How often you will avoid bombs. Default: 0%, Max: 30%
Number of Bombs: How many bombs you will start with. Default: 15, Max: 20
Bomb Range: How far away from your location you can bomb. Default: 6 squares, Max: 14 squares
Bomb Radius: The radius of the bomb's explosion. Default: 1x1, Max: 2x2
Sight Radius: How far you can see around yourself, always 3x3.

You get 10 upgrade points for your player: Bomb radius costs 4 to upgrade, everything else
costs 1 upgrade point (bomb range increases by 2 squares).

Controls:
Options - Up/Down arrow to move cursor, Left/Right arrow to downgrade/upgrade option.
Hide artifact/start point - Move cursor with arrows, 2nd to hide artifact, Alpha for start point.
Gameplay - Buttons on top row choose corresponding action.
Move - After choosing Move, press any arrow to move your player, then Enter to confirm the move.
Bomb - Move cursor with arrows, press Enter to bomb.

Actions explained:
Move - You can move anywhere, as long as there isn't a wall in your way. The two squares
with four dots on them are the bases. Once you choose the Move option you must use an arrow
to move your player and press Enter to confirm the move. You can take back a move before you
press Enter by moving your player back to the original square. If you press Enter on the
original square the move won't count.
Bomb - A bomb will explode on the squares within your cursor when you press Enter, if anyone
is on those squares (including you), they may be hit and 1 will be subtracted from their toughness.
Zero toughness means they are eliminated. Remember that players may be able to avoid bombs, so
if you bomb and miss it doesn't necessarily mean that nobody is there.
Radar - When this action is chosen, the game will split the arena up into numbered sections.
It will then tell you which section each player is in. It is good strategy to check the
radar every turn.
Done - Choose this when you have completed your turn, play will continue with the next player.
Quit - This option will end your turn, save the game, and quit. To resume a saved game just
run Bomber 3 and choose Continue, it will be the next player's turn. To erase a saved game
and start a new one, choose "New Game."

Sight radius:
Every player will have a 3x3 sight radius. This means that you can see all of the 8 squares
around you. If there is an artifact on any of these squares, it will be represented by a little
plus (+) sign. If there is a player on any of these squares, he will be represented by a little
dot. Remember that all other players will have this sight range as well, including the AI.

Computer players (AI):
The AI is very well rounded, don't take these computer players for granted. The AI has been
programmed to take advantage of the sight range and the Radar, almost in the same way a
human player does. The computer doesn't cheat, and if there is more than 1 they will also
try to eliminate each other.

New for Bomber 3:
-Instead of being restricted to 1 Move and 1 Bomb per turn, you can now do 2 general actions per turn.
This allows a player to Move twice, Bomb twice, or stick to the traditional 1 of each.
-Controls are more responsive, more specifically the Move option.
-Moving requires confirmation by pressing Enter, this prevents accidentally moving to the wrong square.
-A lot of AI logic was improved, some small bugs fixed.
-An option was added where you can watch the Computers play after all humans have been eliminated.
-A single pixel in the upper left corner acts as a 'wait' icon. If you see this pixel on during
your turn it means the calculator is not ready for a button press.
-The small arena was removed from the game, this allowed the program to stay the same size even with
all the improvements.
