[Welcome]

Thank you for choosing Planner 2000! Please read all of this
document carefully, since it tends to change EVERY time I
update this program. If you didn't notice, I have moved things
around, and the directions is more clearer. This program would
have been released much earlier, around Jan 15, but ticalc.org
was experiencing some problems, and since I haven't seen my
program published yet, I have decided to resubmit it again.

[Description]

Planner 2000 is the best organizer for TI-83 and TI-83 Plus!
The program is in BASIC, but be prepared to be astounded by
its many features. Planner 2000 is designed to keep track of
homework for 4 classes, and a NOTES section to take extra
notes. Unlike other homework programs, which require you to
set up the program manually by storing stuff to strings, this
program is an all-in-one deal. Installation is easy, and you
can actually name your own folders instead of having to look
at Period1, Period2, etc. It has an uninstall feature for
easy removal in a flash. That way, all you have to delete is
the program itself, and not fiddle around with strings!

[Upgrading to Version 3.0]

This new version had some parts added and rewritten. You WILL
need to uninstall the previous version of Planner 2000 before
upgrading to the new version. Also, please use the version
meant for your calculator, meaning Planner.83p for TI-83, and
Planner.8xp for TI-83 Plus. Please see the first question in
the FAQ for more details concerning the difference.

[Zipped Files Included]

Planner.83g/8xg - The grouped programs listed below...
  -----------------
  [Planner.83p/8xp] - Planner 2000 v3.0!
[Varfree.83p/8xp] - Required to delete variables.

[Hardware Requirements]

  A TI-83 or TI-83 Plus
A TI-Graph Link or equivalent (Recommended, because there
is no way that you can type all of these commands in your
calc correctly. You will most likely make a mistake. The
program is edit-locked for protection of accidental edits.)

[Installation]

PLEASE DO NOT UNGROUP THE PROGRAMS, SENT TO YOUR CALC AS-IS
Send Planner.83g to your TI-83 or Planner.8xg to your TI-83.
To send to your calculator using the Graph-Link software,
  select [Link|Send To|RAM] for the TI-83 Plus or [Link|Send]
for the TI-83. Follow the directions below.

[Directions]

  Quick Notice:
Planner 2000 v3.0 takes advantage of all string variables.
I'm telling you that now just in case you have something
important stored in them. Other programs using strings will
have to give them up, because Planner 2000 v3.0 is going to
need them, so you will have to choose between Planner 2000
  and your other programs.

On the first run, it will prompt you to install. If you
want to know what it is about before you install, then go
ahead and take a look. When you're ready, choose INSTALL.

Setup of Classes: Here you have to type in the names of all
your classes. It will prompt you 4 times,
for 4 classes, of course! All classes can
have a name of up to 16 characters, or
equal to one line. Use single letters and
                    symbols only!

The Main Menu: Here you see all of your classes laid out
including the extra MY NOTES section, the
OPTIONS menu, and the EXIT command.

Classes 1-4: Here you see NEW/EDIT, VIEW, ERASE, and
CLOSE. They do exactly what they mean.
NEW/EDIT allows you to type in new
homework, and if you already have work
stored, then it tells you which keys to
press to bring back the contents of all
homework. VIEW lets you see what you typed
in, and if you have more than 4 lines
stored, then you can use up/down to scroll.
ERASE deletes homework for that class, and
CLOSE is to get out of a menu.
My Notes: Here you see the a menu identical to all
of your other classes. It is used to store
notes, or can be used for a fifth class.
The only thing about MY NOTES is that you
                    cannot change its name.
Options: Here you see CLASS NAMES, CLEAR ALL WORK,
SYSTEM INFO, ABOUT PLANNER, and UNINSTALL.
CLASS NAMES lets you change the name of a
class, just like when you installed it.
CLEAR ALL WORK deletes all homework from
all 4 classes and also from MY NOTES.
SYSTEM INFO monitors how much memory is
being used by Planner 2000. ABOUT PLANNER
is self explanitory. UNINSTALL is to
uninstall Planner 2000. Use it whenever
you need to uninstall it. Remember that
when you uninstall Planner, you are only
deleting all classes and their contents.
The program will still remain on your
                    calculator.
About Homework: You can only use certain characters when
typing in homework. These include all the
letters, and any other single char. symbol.
DO NOT try to type in stuff like the cos(
function, or the -> symbol. Scrolling will
look weird if non-single letter characters
are present, and -> cannot be stored in a
                    string.

[Features]

  - Install/Uninstall capability
  - Keeps track of homework for 4 classes plus a notes section
  - Up/down scrolling, file size indicator, and % indicator
  - Customized naming of classes
  - Editing function
  - About screen changed, and system info screen

[History]

  Version 3.0! [02/01/2000]
  Size: [TI-83: 4521 bytes, TI-83 Plus: 4526 bytes]
I rewrote some parts of Planner 2000 and added more cool
stuff, like a SYSTEM INFO. Also program is more optimize,
so it makes it easy for me to change. The size has almost
doubled since the first release! Still, I think it is
      worth it.

  Version 2.80 [01/12/2000]
  Size: [TI-83: 4180 bytes, TI-83 Plus: 4183 bytes]
Well, I implemented the NOTES section, so you can keep
track of 5 classes. It's just that one is called NOTES.
Also, I made it look fancy and stuff, and tried to
rewrite some areas of the program. All that extra stuff
equals MAJOR size increase, exactly 915 bytes more.

  Version 2.71 [01/10/2000]
  Size: [TI-83: 3265 bytes, TI-83 Plus: 3268 bytes]
Minor little bug in the installation program. Very sorry
for those new to Planner 2000. People updating had no
      problems.

  Version 2.70 [01/10/2000]
  Size: [TI-83: 3241 bytes, TI-83 Plus: 3244 bytes]
Added editing function, file size description, and a
      little here and there.

  Version 2.62 [01/02/2000]
  Size: [TI-83: ????, TI-83 Plus: ????]
I created a TI-83 Plus version. Save people the trouble
of having to get the program from a regular TI-83. :)

  Version 2.61 [12/31/1999]
  Size: [TI-83: 2742 bytes]
      Fixed a little graphical bug.

  Version 2.60 [12/19/1999]
  Size: [TI-83: 2751 bytes]
      Made some improvements

  Version 2.50 [12/18/1999]
  Size: [TI-83: 2607 bytes]
      First release

  Non-public releases are not documented.

[FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)]

Q: What is the difference between the TI-83 version and
     the TI-83 Plus version?
A: The program is exactly the same for both versions,
except for one minor thing. Since the TI-83 Plus stores
it's data in a unique way, everything is 3 bytes more
than the TI-83 data. For example, Varfree is 232 bytes
on the TI-83, but is 235 bytes on the TI-83 Plus. The
two versions perform the same operations, but I have
created the TI-83 Plus version to correct the actual
memory usage numbers in the SYSTEM INFO menu. So, please
use the version that is meant for your calculator.
Using the wrong version won't hurt you, the memory usage
reported in the SYSTEM INFO menu will be wrong.

Q: Do I have to uninstall the old version and send the new
version of Planner 2000 to my calculator?
A: This question has been answered at the top. For future
versions, you might not have to, but look at this FAQ
again in the future releases, just to be sure!

Q: Can Planner 2000 be made to run in AShell/SOS?
A: Yes, but it is not recommended. If you do run it in a
shell be careful about pressing ON or doing something
illegal that will break a program, like typing the ->
key in your homework. The shell can possibly "eat" up
memory, which is irrecoverable. You would have to reset
your calculator if you wanted that precious memory back.
AShell and SOS are great programs though.

Q: Why don't you make Planner 2000 with a graphical
     interface instead of text?
A: This will have to be a big NO. This version is already
big, so a graphical interface would be even bigger. We
don't need to make it too fancy, I think it is already
fancy enough. If you are thinking about this question,
then I ask "Why don't you like my program as it is?"

Q: Will there be an assembly version of Planner 2000?
A: Man, I wish that BASIC to ASM program is finished
already! I'm waiting for that to be released without
any flaws. Some of my BASIC routines are a bit hard
to convert to ASM, so until it can be done, you will
     have to wait.
