Distrobution Calculator v1.2
Programmed Kid 6117 a.k.a Grimey

This is a useful little program to calculate the probable distrobition for a set sample size and known proportion.

To use send dist.83p to your TI-83 or TI-83+. Run the program on your calc. It will ask you to input a sample size. This is pretty obvious what it wants, the size of the sample you are taking. Don't enter a number higher than 30 or so, the calc's memory can't take it. Also, never enter an even number, this will screw up the calc's accuracy calculation.

Next it will ask you for the True proportion. This is the known proportion of the population that will answer yes. (For instance, you KNOW that 60% of the population will say yes if you poll everyone). Always enter a decimal (ie: 60% = .6).

The program will display a working symbol for a little while, then a graph will pop up. This graph will display the theoretical distribution for this sample size, with 0 on the left, and the sample size on the right. Sorry, no labels for the data, maybe in v2.0.

Hit enter again, and the calc will display the accuracy of that poll. This will be a number from 0 to 1, of course it will never be 1 or 0. This is the percent of the graph that correctly showed the majority going one way or the other. In other words, how often a poll of this size will be accurate.
