                            Highway Patrol II

Docs typed by Scott La Rock. The game was originally ripped by Scott La
Rock & Lord Labrynth, but there probably alot of people who cracked it and
try to take all the credit.

STARTING THE GAME

Comfortably sit behind your desk, look at the file of gangsters to
be arrested. The file is divided into three sections:
   1. The 1st section of the file (closest to you) contains
the small criminals who are of little importance and
not very difficult to arrest. When you spot their
vehicle simply sound your siren, they will stop and
       offer no further resistance.
   2. The 2nd section (in the middle) contains the more
persistent criminals who already have criminal records.
These gangsters are more difficult to arrest and you
will have to cut them off in order to block their way.
   3. The last section contains the most dangerous gangsters!
These are genuine outlaws and they will not hesitate to
open fire on you if they feel caught in a trap. The
only means of stopping them is for you to open fire, and
       shoot at their tires...!

Move to one of the three sections of the file and select one by pressing
the fire button. A record from that file will be displayed on the screen,
giving you information about the reward that you'll get if you chase this
gangster. If you wish to pursue him, you must confirm your decision by
placing the cursor on the picture and by pressing the fire button. If on
the other hand, you wish to look at a different record, just move the cursor
to the side of the picture and press the button.

There are a few hazards to lookout for throughout the game:

PUNCTURES: These usually happen if you drive off the road to frequently...
However you do have a spare wheel, but once you have used it,
you do not have another one... Remember to get the puncture
repaired at a gas station (preferably one that hasn't been
              already robbed).
OUT OF GAS: Obviously you must keep an eye on your fuel gauge. It's
important to remember the route followed by the gangster
you're chasing, and to check if the gas stations have been
robbed. If you are running out of gas and go to a gas
station that has already been robbed, you won't be able to
fill up your fuel tank! You must also watch your speed since
the faster you drive, the more gas you will use...
OVERHEATING:Speed is the main cause of engine overheating: if you drive
for a long time at full speed, your engine won't cope with it
and there will not be a single drop of water left in your
              radiator...
DAMAGE: As you drive along you'll probably be forced off the road and
collide with obstacles (signposts, trees, or even other
vehicles), your car will get more and more damaged until you
end up with a wreck that you can't drive... NOTE: If your
car breaks down for any of these reasons, you will not be able
to carry on chasing the criminal and it will be the end of
              your pursuit...
GAS STATION:Whenever they have not been robbed by gangsters, you may go to
the gas station to fill up or to have your tires repaired.

The instrument panel will tell you the coordinates of both you and the
gangster. The coordinates are given to you in the following form: 02 15
In order to find this position, you must take the first number (02) and
apply if horizontally. In this example, you must to the coordinate (02)
by moving east or west. The second number (15) can be found by moving
north and south.

To play the game you must be able to control your car. Pressing up on
your joystick will accelerate your car. Pulling down will apply brakes
(only if your moving foward). Also, pulling when you are stopped will put
you in reverse. To stop in reverse, push forward.

Special Keys:
              Pull out your gun...............T
Shoot (with gun out only).......Fire button
              Siren...........................S
              Pause...........................P

You are sitting in the driver seat of your patrol car. At the top of the
screen is your instrument panel showing the following information:

          From Left to Right

   1st block....Your Horizontal Coordinate
   2nd block....Your Vertical Coordinate
3rd block....The Direction You Are Going In
   4th block....Your Score
5th block....Number of Gas Stations That Have Been Robbed
6th block....The Direction The Ganster Is Going In
   7th block....The Gangster's Horizontal Coordinate
   8th block....The Gangster's Vertical Coordinate

You must also keep your eye on your dashboard on the bottom of the screen:

                          From Left to Right

                      1st circle...Fuel Gauge

                      4th circle...Engine Temperature

At the beginning of the chase, the player starts with the reward for the
capture of the particular ganster he is chasing, this is the player's score.
This score decreases during the play until the gangster is arrested. Then
the final reward is given to the player. The score decreases quicker if the
player collides with a private car and even quicker if he shoots one! The
score is constantly displayed on the instrument panel (4th Block).

You will lose the game when:
      -Your score reaches zero
      -You've run out of gas
-Your car is too badly damaged
-You have a puncture and you don't have a spare
-Your engine is broken due to overheating
-You're hit by a gangster who has fired at you
On the other hand, if you manage to capture the gangster, the reward is given
to you and you must try another arrest.
